Overnight Planned Respite Service

A well-deserved vacation…

Respite: a temporary, short break from providing hands-on care for a loved one who has a significant disability or special need.

It is a chance for a caregiver to rest, relax and recharge. It also benefits the client as well providing a relaxing, fun vacation with each Respite experience tailored to the individual.

For some, Respite can provide an opportunity to begin the transition of a loved one living at home to moving into their own home with supported living.

We have housing options for our Respite program for DDA clients in both Tumwater, WA and Vancouver, WA

  • Tumwater A

Decorated with a 50's retro kitchen and shabby chic furnishings, Tumwater A is wheelchair accessible with a roll in shower. A Hoyer lift and shower chair are available if needed. There is a sensory room in the garage with assorted items for crafts and games. This room is shared with side B.

  • Tumwater B

Tumwater B- is decorated as a Northwest cabin. The log furnishings are sturdy and great for relaxing. This home is also wheelchair accessible with a roll in shower. Hoyer lift and shower chair are available if need. The yard is fenced and spacious with tables outside for enjoying the sunshine. (Yard is also a shared space, but very large.)

  • Vancouver

Vancouver is decorated with a beach theme and has a large ocean/beach mural on the wall of the dining area. This home has a large, fenced yard with a back patio and a covered front porch. There is a bathroom with a tub and shower combination as well as a large bathroom with a tiled roll in shower. A Hoyer lift and shower chair are available if needed.

Our goal for the individuals that stay with us in the overnight respite program…

…is to have the best vacation EVER!

Our Respite program for DDA clients offers three choices: two homes in Tumwater, WA and one in Vancouver, WA.

All homes have transportation available for client engagement in the community such as eating out, shopping, and attending local events. Respite clients are encouraged to be involved with not only the local community but are welcome to attend any events being offered by our Supported Living Program. We review upcoming trips and event options with the family prior to the client checking into Respite. The family is responsible for any financial needs for client participation in those trips and events.

Respite staff are bound by the same laws as Supported Living Services. We offer a variety of Nurse Delegation services, however we are unable to be delegated for deep suction or sliding scale insulin injections. We value client safety and security while they experience this relaxing time being on their own with supported living services.
